Topic: | Serious Gaming in the context of Cross-Reality systems |
Lecturer: | Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Effelsberg Department of Computer Science IV A5, 6 - 2. OG Phone: 0621 181-2600 |
Location and Time | Wednesdays, 12:00-13:30, room C112, building A5, 6. In the initial meeting on September 7th the topics will be assigned to the participants. The presentations will start on October 12th. |
Description: | Cross-Reality describes the combination of real and virtual world into one common environment. Until now, scenarios normally are either located in the real or the virtual world. E.g., conventional computer games take place in a pure virtual world and do not have an interface to the real world. However, with the broad availability of sensing devices such as smart phones and technologies for embedding virtual data into the real world it is now possible to create a link between both worlds. Serious Games, on the other hand, are designed to deliver knowledge about real-world contexts in a game-like environment. Apart from pure entertainment these applications are designed for learning, training or exploration purposes. This seminar covers the integration of Serious Gaming concepts into Cross-Reality systems. Topics include overviews on Serious Gaming and Cross-Reality in general and the techniques that are required for such systems. Further, various applications are presented that implement and combine the introduced concepts. |
